New Zealand environmental officials dropped 120 tons of bait on a remote sub-Antarctic island and sent a 20-man devastating team. It is said to be the largest anti-rodent operation in the history of the world. Their goal is to kill up to 200,000 Norwegian rats on Campbell Island, 438 miles south of New Zealand. These Norwegian rats may have been brought to the island by nineteenth-century whalers and harboring seals.
