The United States “Nature,” Vol. 280, Issue 5721 (1979) reports: The concept of “tumor progression” was developed by Leslie Foulds some 25 years ago and has undergone a test of time. It is of great importance. . Understanding tumor progression is to understand why cancer is a difficult disease. Simply stated, tumor progression is an independent, gradual, and permanent change in many characteristics of malignant tumors. Immunogen specificity, karyotypic differences, resistance, dependence on hormones, possibility of metastasis, cell differentiation, and ascites can change as the tumor progresses. Some people think that the process of tumor progression is based on the appearance of a series of tumor cell variants.
