王才仁、胡春洞教授主编的《英语教学交际论》中提出:英语教学的实质是交际,而交际的功能是通过活动表现的。活动是更新教学观念、开创英语教学新局面的重要哲学支撑点。2001年教育部颁布的《全日制义务教育普通高级中学英语课程标准》(实验稿)也明确指出:英语教学要采用活动途径,让学生通过体验、实践、参与和合作等方式,形成积极的学习态度,促进语言运用能力的提高。
