With the continuous expansion of college enrollment, college graduates have gradually become a social issue that can not be ignored. The fierce job hunting competition puts forward higher requirements on the comprehensive quality of college students. It is the development goal of higher vocational colleges to cultivate diversified talents in conformity with the needs of employers. As a direct manifestation of the comprehensive ability of English, oral English occupies a high proportion of self-development among college students. Graduates of the same level have far different performance in job search and career development due to their differences in oral ability. This article sorts out the current situation of oral English teaching in higher vocational colleges and then summarizes the existing problems in oral English teaching and puts forward some countermeasures
