朱大仙同志是上海机床厂著名的金属切削能手，这次他光荣地出席了全国工业，交通运输、基本建设，财贸方而社会主义建设先进集体和先进生产者代表大会。十年来，他先后从来厂表演的苏联先进生产者那里学到不少数经验，同时，他自已也不断地改进和创造了一些新的刀具和操作方法。 当他的车床和工作物的条件限制他使用高速切削来提高生产效率的时候，他便学习与应用了科列索夫、乌兰诺夫和杰米多夫同志的强力切削经验，虽然开始时使用得并不很顺利，但经过他顽强地摸索，终于放弃了高速切削而走上强力切削的道路。
