液晶是介于固体和液体之间的一种中间相态,它具有类似于晶体的各向异性(声、光、电、热的各向异性),又具有类似于液体的流动、扩散的性质。近10年来,这些性质在工业技术上获得应用后,愈来愈多的人对液晶研究产生了很大兴趣,然而主要集中于液晶光电效应,即在数字图像显示方面,而在化工技术领域中液晶的应用还处在研究探索阶段,如果化工技术工作者对液晶予以注意,那么在化工领域中找到液晶新的应用是完全有可能的,为此从化工应用观点作如下介绍:
