四大天王的意义在于:如果香港乐坛是一个商品,那么在很长的一段时间里,“四大天王”的称号是唯一的商标。关于四大天王时代,是一个很有争议的话题。有人认为四大天王的出现阴碍了很多本应大红大紫的歌手的发展,甚至有人声称“四大天王”占领乐坛的时代是香港乐坛“最黑暗的时代”。当然这些说法未免夸张,尽管四大天王的出现确实阴碍了一些歌手的正常发展。但是在一个完全商业化运作的歌坛走到高峰期的时候,产生这样的现角实属正常。或许,类似的现象还在香港,毕竟香港乐坛只是(?)艺圈的一个小小缩影。包括周杰伦的出现,包括F4的风行……,这个偶像市场永远都不可能淡掉,只要我们的歌迷们还拥有年轻的激情。但事实上没有人能代替任何人,在香港乐坛的发展史上,四大天王注定只能出现一次,
