“侠”一词最早见于《韩非子·五蠹》篇:“儒以文乱法,而侠以武犯禁”;《说文解字》对“侠”的解释为:“俜也,从卜,夹声。”;段玉裁《说文解字注》引用徐铉云:“任侠者,挟负气力以任事自雄也。”关于“侠”的评价,在司马迁以前,只不过见于片言只语中。可以说,司马迁是中国历史上对“侠”进行大力讴歌并为之作传的第一人。

It can be said that Sima Qian is the first person to sing and pass on Xia in Chinese history.
