《战略家的思想》让大前研一在西方一鸣惊人。大前研一以麻省理工学院核物理博士和麦肯锡日本公司业务明星的背景,让西方人毫无保留地接纳了这个东方人,认可了日本企业的管理方式。在人们的印象中,日本人都是埋头苦干,缺乏思考力的配角。正如让大前研一所不屑的日本政府,他指责日本之所以处处受制于美国,完全是因为日本政府缺乏独立思考的能力,没有经过客观分析行事,每每在与美国谈判中不得不丧失主动,放弃权利。
