这种钻头共镶四组合金,每四个合金为一组。前边两个合金底出刃为2~1.5毫米,后边两个合金底出刃均比前两个合金底出刃高0.5~1毫米。当后两个合金磨坏时,前边出刃低的两个合金接续工作。但后边合金工作时,与岩石接触面积小,所以压力要小,一般在1700~2000公斤左右。前边两合金接续工作时,前后二齿都与岩石接触,所以接触面积要加大。压力一般在2000~2500公斤左右。合金规格7×15毫米。在7~8级的灰岩夹燧石岩层中钻进,效果如表。
