It is well known to use the interferometric method to measure the “whole fiber”. In this measurement method, the refractive index distribution is described by an integral equation or an approximation of a set of differential equations and is related to the deviation of the interference fringes. The advantage of this method is that the experiment is relatively simple, the automation is more accurate and reliable. The disadvantage is to assume that fiber symmetry requires refractive index matching and stripe deviation in the measurement of stripe fluctuations and inaccuracies and other effects.
