整整50年前,1948年2月9日一期的美国《TIME》(时代)周刊,把天文学家哈勃作为封面人物,这不但在《时代》周刊过去25年的历史中是第一次,就是在世界其他非科学期刊中把天文学家印作彩色封面可能也是绝无仅有的。这件事给我留下了深刻印象,也使我在50年来不断注意有关哈勃的动态。 为什么哈勃会被《时代》周刊选为封面人物呢?这是因为哈勃是宇宙边疆的开拓者。他把人类对宇宙的认识又大大地推动了一步。1543
