位于伊犁河谷的察布查尔锡伯自治县,是全国唯一的以锡伯族为主体的多民族聚居的自治县,也是远近闻名的“中国弓箭之乡”。清代乾隆年间,4000多名锡伯人从东北盛京(今沈阳)西迁至伊犁河谷戍边屯垦。如今,在察布查尔锡伯自治县,古老的传统弓箭早已不是保家卫国、屯垦戍边的武器,而是从战场走向了竞技场,不少锡伯族儿女拿起弓箭在竞技场上为国争光——在中国参加的历次奥运会中,就有察布查尔籍的4名射箭名将参加了4届射箭比赛,
The Qabqel Xibe Autonomous County, located in the Ili Valley, is the only autonomous county of many ethnic groups in China that is mainly composed of the Xibe nationality. It is also known as the “hometown of Chinese bow and arrow”. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, more than 4,000 Xibo people moved west from Shengjing (now Shenyang) in the northeast to the settlements in the frontier of the Ili Valley.
