Yunnan Provincial Commission of Discipline Inspection announced that Xie Xinsong, Deputy Mayor, member of the CPC Standing Committee of Kunming, is under investigation for suspected serious law and discipline violation. He use to be a follower of Qiu He, former Deputy Party Chief of Yunnan Province. Qiu was took away by authorities for internal investigation on March 15.
Xie Xinsong, 44, was born in Shuyang County, Jiangsu Province where he began his political career in 1998. At that time Qiu He was the Deputy Mayor of Suqian Municipal Government and doubled as Party Chief of adjacent Shuyang County. In 2002, Qiu He was promoted to Party Chief of Suqian. Later that year, following Qiu He, Xie Xinsong was transferred to the Office of Suqian Municipal Affairs.
In December, 2007, Qiu He took the office of Deputy Mayor and member of the CPC Standing Committee of Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province, bringing Xie Xinsong along with him. Xie Xinsong has been moving up hierarchically in Kunming’s political circle since then.
According to an official of Suqian City, Xie Xinsong was deeply trusted by Qiu He, and was one of the “ most adamant executor of Qiu He’s wills”.
