本刊讯8月1日，劳动部就今年上半年全国煤矿重大事故发出通报。1997年上半年，全国煤矿安全生产形势严峻，重大伤亡事故频繁发生。据初步统计，1997年上半年全国煤矿共发生一次死亡10人以上事故50起，死亡922人，与去年同期相比，事故起数和伤亡人数分别上升了471％和58．2％。
Our correspondent August 1, the Ministry of Labor issued a circular on major coal mine accidents in the first half of this year. In the first half of 1997, the situation of coal mine safety in the country was harsh, with major casualties occurring frequently. According to preliminary statistics, in the first half of 1997, there were 50 accidents with more than 10 deaths per day in coal mines in the country, with 922 deaths. Compared with the same period of last year, the number of accidents and the number of casualties increased by 471% and 58.2% respectively.
