The new winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Modiano, was born at the end of “World War II” and has a complicated family background. When he turned 17, he was severed from his father and has been relying on government funding to finish high school. His father was a Jewish descendant of Italy. His mother was a Belgian performing artist. Modiano’s father was involved in smuggling activities during World War II, and worked in the financial industry after the war. He was closely associated with the German secret police in the Nazi era and organized criminal syndicates. Data show that the reason why Modallo join the novels, and his parents experience the World War II and the resulting anxiety are inseparable from his creation, there are two key words: root and memory. I did not study Modallo, but these two words, like a sunshine - gathered and dazzling - directed at my heart, I suddenly felt distant French novelist inexplicably close to many.
