马来西亚位于亚洲东南部,被南中国海分隔为东西两部分。西马地处马来半岛南半部,北邻泰国,南隔柔佛海峡,有长堤与新加坡相连,西临马六甲海峡,与印度尼西亚的苏门答腊岛相望;东马位于加里曼丹岛北部,由沙捞越和沙巴组成,南接印尼,北部中段与文莱交界。西马地势北高南低,东西两岸为冲积平原。东马西部沿海亦为冲积平原,是重要的农业区,内地为森林覆盖的山地,纵贯南北的克罗克山脉有东南亚最高山峰基纳巴鲁峰。
Malaysia is located in southeastern Asia, separated by the South China Sea for both east and west. West Malaysia is located in the southern half of the Malay Peninsula, north of Thailand, south of the Straits of Johor, a long dyke connected with Singapore, west of the Strait of Malacca, and Indonesia Sumatra Island; East Malaysia is located in northern Kalimantan, by Sarawak and Sabah, south of Indonesia, the middle of the northern border with Brunei. West Highland North High South, both east and west alluvial plain. The western coast of East Malaysia is also an alluvial plain. It is an important agricultural area. The mainland is covered with forests. There are Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in Southeast Asia, in the Crock Mountains running north and south.
