Translation is a necessary part of written examinations in most foreign languages departments at Italian universities. At Padua University, freelance English is a two-year course designed for third- and fourth-year students enrolled in a four-year modern language degree. At this time, students’ English proficiency has reached a high level (roughly equivalent to Cambridge Primary Certificate Examination).
