一劈雕,顾名思义,即用刀斧将木块劈开,根据劈后呈现出来的奇特纹理,依树拟形,就势而凿,运用夸张写意手法进行创作,力求神似。它的特点,在于能展现木块内在的结构美,造型古朴而粗犷,自然而生动。劈雕是一门年轻的艺术。1989年,积累了二十多年传统木雕经验的高公博,顺应人们审美心理发生变化的时代需要,认真吸收兄弟艺术精华,在多年冥思探索的基础上,厚积薄发,进行大胆创新,终于为繁花似锦的中国工艺美术园圃孕育出一朵奇葩——劈雕。劈雕作品的问世,立即受到世人的瞻目。
