蔚县地处冀西北山地丘陵区,自1986年列入首都周围绿化工程区以来,全县的林业建设取得了巨大成绩。截止1993年底,共造林55.7万亩,其中工程造林33.9万亩。活立木总蓄积达到88.6万立方米,森林覆盖率提高了5.9个百分点,达到23.1%。在林业生产和建设中,我们不断调整林业生产结构,改进生产方法,加快建设速度,实现了工程造林由生态型向质量效益型的转变,使工程造林已成为全县人民脱贫致富奔小康的希望工程。
