As early as 1964 and 1965, some scholars noticed that physicochemical factors could affect cercariae infection in mammalian hosts. The authors studied the impact of water temperature, pH and salt content of three physical and chemical factors on Schistosoma japonicum and Schistosoma mansoni cercaria infected mice. Schistosoma japonicum and Schistosoma mansoni were obtained from their intermediate hosts, Quinclobidae and Tricula aperta respectively. Before infecting mice, these cercariae were treated for 2 hours under specific physico-chemical conditions and 6 or 8 weeks after infection, the mice were dissected and adults were collected. The mouse infection rate
