自贡市地处四川盆地南部,多数地方属于浅丘平坝区,年平均气温17.8℃,年降雨量1,036mm,区内热量丰富,雨量充沛,土壤肥沃,无霜期长,适宜于粮食作物生长。1985年全年粮食总产21.22亿斤,其中,水稻总产5.54亿公斤,占整个粮食总产的55.66％,而水稻以一季中稻为主,占整个水稻播种面积的90.1％,总产5.485亿公斤,占92.89％。因此,要发展自贡的农业生产,稳定和提高粮食作物产量,就必须始终抓住和抓好中稻生产这一关键环节。
