The National Conference on Accounting Work and the National Award for Advanced Collective and Advanced Individuals in Accounting Work were held in Beijing from November 19 to November 23, 1990. State Councilor and Minister of Finance Wang Bingqian, Vice Minister of Personnel Cheng Lianshang, Ministry of Finance and State Revenue, and the People’s Bank of China attended the opening ceremony. Zhang Youcai, Vice Minister of Ministry of Finance, made a report titled “Strengthening Management, Deepening Reform and Further Promoting the Development of Accounting Work in China”. He reviewed the profound changes in accounting work that have taken place since 1980 from five aspects: accounting reform, the legal system of accounting work, the construction of accounting team, accounting affairs management and accounting theory.
