The authors compare multiple parameters of peripheral blood lymphocyte function in patients with multiple myelopathy (MM) to those with benign M-leukemia to elucidate the mechanism of the immunodeficiency in the former. This group includes 18 cases of tumorous monoclonal M leukemia (IgG type MM8 cases, IgA type MM5 cases, BJ type MM3 cases, 2 cases of primary macroglobulinemia and non-secreting MM1 cases), benign M 6 cases of proteinuria (1 case of lung cancer, 1 case of gastric cancer, 1 case of acute myeloid leukemia, 1 case of chronic renal insufficiency and 2 cases of unidentified M proteinuria) and 22 healthy adults.
