This article describes a digital force sensor device that is more accurately defined as an indirect digital device. The device retains most of the advantages of analog force sensors and has the stability of a digital system and its compatibility with a computer. Digital force sensor can handle less than 700 grams of force, with commonly used sensors, binary 8, resolution 4 grams. The inquiry rate is 7 kHz, which identifies forces with frequencies well above 1 kHz. Linearity better than ± 0.1% ± 1/2 of the lowest binary, repeatability better than ± 0.25% of full scale. The device is used almost daily for three years, and the assessment is very reliable. This sensor is used as an integral part of a Tensile Tensile Tester and its performance exceeds the needs of the test system. This sensor is economical in design and manufacture compared to analog sensors, which combine mass-produced analog-to-digital hardware.
