In 1990, a steel mills in Iran ordered 15 ME10 AC electric drive diesel locomotives from Germany’s Krauss-Maffei Company. The first seven were supplied by German vehicles; the second five were supplied as a complete spare part for assembly in Iranian factories; the third three were manufactured and assembled for Iran by the German supply of key components such as control devices.
