捷克斯洛伐克木偶戏展览会在北京举行了,这个展览会不仅能使没有看过木偶戏的观众对木偶戏发生兴趣,同时也引起戏剧家与儿童教育家们莫大的兴趣;对中国木偶戏工作者来说,其意义则更为重大。展览会预展的那一天,我们中国木偶剧团全体同志,看到兄弟国家同业的成绩,都觉得很兴奋。在会场里我听到了很多赞美的声音,大家都嚷着:多么逼真,多么美丽有趣,多么莊严肃穆,多么滑稽神似!这儿有各式各样的造型、风格、情调,有的带有西方古樸的风貌,有些反映目前生活的幸福,但又都是在现实主义的基础上发展起来的。这说明了只有什么样的社会,才能产生什么样的文化艺术,无论哪个时化的艺术,祗要是人民所创造的,和人民有着血缘关系的,就必然会获得人民的喜爱和欢迎。这些新旧木偶陈列在一起,不但不会使人感觉到不调和,反而会叫人想到它们的相互攸关,既使人回想到已往的成就,又使人对未来的任务更具有信心。这些古代的和现代的木偶,就象征着人类文化进步的轨迹。
The Czechoslovak puppet show was held in Beijing. This exhibition not only enables pupils who have not seen puppet shows to become interested in puppet shows, but also draws great interest from the dramatists and children educators; Its meaning is even more significant. The day we previewed the exhibition, all of our Chinese puppetry troupes, very happy to see the achievements of their brother country counterparts. I heard a lot of praise in the venue, everyone cried: how realistic, beautiful and interesting, how solemn, how funny! There are a variety of shapes, styles, moods, and some with the West Quaint style, some reflect the current happiness of life, but are based on the realism developed. This shows what kind of culture art can be produced only in any kind of society. No matter what time art is created, it is bound to receive the favor and welcome of the people as long as it is created by the people and has a blood relationship with the people. The display of these old and new puppets not only does not make people feel discordant, but reminds them of their interdependence. Even people recall the achievements of the past and give people more confidence in the future tasks. These ancient and modern puppets symbolize the progress of human culture.
