In Taiyuan, Shanxi, 15 people, including Hao Jianxiu, board chairman of the Shanxi Jianfeng Group, were arrested due to involvement in a murder and the case of bribing policemen. Hao Jianxiu is also a member of the parliamentary Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
On a night of May, Luo Fuming, vice board chairman of Shanxi Juneng Group, brought two prostitutes to a hotel for “fun”. They also took drugs there, during which one prostitute died of taking too many drugs. A servant of the hotel found this and called the police. Luo Fuming turned to Hao Jianxiu for help and offered him 3.6 million yuan as “remunerations”. Hao bribed the policemen responsible for this case. The police detained the other prostitute, who was an important witness of this case, for two days before giving her a certain amount of money to shut her up. Meanwhile, They offered the deceased prostitute’s family with a large amount of money to prevent them talking further on her death. Then, Hao asked the policemen in charge of the area the hotel is located and the director of a hospital to issue a false Notification of Death to make people believe that the prostitute was blamed for her own death. They even cremated her body without getting the approval of her family.
Then, some people reported this to the CPC Discipline Inspection Committee of Shanxi, which paid close attention to this case. They sent a special investigation team to look into that case. When being interrogated by a member of the team, Hao even begged this member to show“mercy” to him with the promise of “an unbelievable amount of money to ensure a luxury life for him”.
Hao Jianxiu was one of the earliest private entrepreneurs in Shanxi and was awarded many times by various departments due to his contributions in taxation, enterprising and philanthropy.
