METHODS: Fifteen New Zealand rabbits were selected and divided into 3 groups, 5 in each group. They were cervical disc degeneration group, cervical intervertebral disc degeneration plus artificial musk feeding group and normal control group. By resection of the animal’s cervical spine and the interspinous ligament and the separation of the muscles on both sides of the cervical spine, mechanical imbalances in the cervical spine caused a degenerative change in the cervical disc in rabbits. At 8 months after the operation, animals were killed. Animals were harvested from cervical intervertebral discs and IgG and IgM levels were determined using a unidirectional circular immunodiffusion technique. Results: The content of IgG in degenerative cervical intervertebral discs increased significantly; artificial musk had a significant effect on reducing IgG in degenerative cervical intervertebral discs. IgM was not associated with cervical intervertebral disc degeneration.
