有的英汉翻译教材辟有专门章节谈“增词法”,但对增词的原因却只有三言两语,浅析即止,令读者抓不住要领而有遗珠之憾。原文中出现了省略现象固然是英译汉不得不增词的一个重要原因,据笔者管窥,增词未必全因省略。如:Ⅰ、修辞,增加了遣词造句的信息容量,而汉语中又难以找到相应的表达,此时的汉译就不可能不是一种增词的意译。
Some English-Chinese translation textbooks have devoted chapters to talk about “word addition”, but the reason for adding words is only a few words and three words. The analysis is almost finished, and readers are unable to grasp the essentials and have regrets. The omission of the original text appears to be an important reason why English translation has to add words. According to the author’s glance, the addition may not be entirely due to omission. Such as: I, rhetoric, increased the information capacity of words and sentences, and it is difficult to find a corresponding expression in Chinese, at this time the Chinese translation can not be a free translation.
