新华社7月12日的一则电讯让人心情沉重:薄一波捐助的希望小学被建成“豆腐渣”工程。山西长治市在实施“百日内实现中小学校无危房”过程中发现:由老一辈革命家薄一波捐款修建的沁源县阎寨希望小学教学楼存在严重质量问题。1998年,薄一波捐款18万元、沁源县政府拨款10万元、县教委拨付义务教育工程款10万元、村民自筹资金2.8万元筹建阎寨希望小学。教学楼从1998年7月交付使用,到1999年2月,墙基便鼓了起来,接着墙体出现裂痕、玻璃窗变形、围墙瓷砖脱落等,新建的学校也成了危房。目前沁源县已对此工程进行财务审计、资产评估、质量核查,有关责任人员正在调查追究中。

In 1998, Bo Yibo donated 180,000 yuan, and the Qinyuan County government allocated 100,000 yuan. The county education commission allocated 100,000 yuan for compulsory education and the villagers raised funds of 28,000 yuan to build Yanzhai Hope Primary School. The school building was delivered from July 1998 and by February 1999 the wall had been dug up. Then the walls were cracked, the windows were deformed, the tiles on the walls fell off, and the new school became a dilapidated building. At present, Qinyuan County has conducted financial audits, asset evaluation and quality verification of the project, and relevant responsible personnel are under investigation.
