华中师范大学中共党史学科建国初期即已设置。当时学校(华中师范大学前身中原大学)开设有中共党史、中国近代革命史、新民主主义革命问题、共同纲领等课程,有一支政治思想水平和学术素质较高的专业教师队伍。50多年来,学科建设有了长足发展。1983年成立中共党史研究室,同年获得硕士学位授予权,1984年开始招收硕士研究生。目前设有中国社会主义现代化建设、中共统一战线理论与实践、毛泽东思想和邓小平理论、党的建设与党政管理、中共与民主党派关系等研究方向。2001年,华中师范大学获得政治学一级学科授权,本学科点具有了博士学位授予权。2003年开始招收中国共产党与中国现代化、中共党史与党的建设、中国革命与毛泽东思想等方向的博士研究生。

In 2001, Huazhong Normal University received a political science discipline authorization, this discipline has the right to grant a doctorate. In 2003, he began to recruit doctoral students in the direction of the CPC and the modernization of China, the history of the CPC and the party building, the Chinese revolution and Mao Zedong Thought.
