中国人民政治协商會議第一届全国委員會在一九四九年十月九日的第一次會议中,通過‘请政府明定十月一日為中華人民共和國国慶日,以代替十月十日的舊國慶日’的建議案,送請中央人民政府采择施行。中央人民政府委員会認為中國人民政治協商會議的第一屆全國委員会的這個建議,是符合历史实際和代表人民意志的,决定加以採納。中央人民政府委員會茲宣告:自一九五零年起,即以每年的十月一日,即中華人民共和國宣告成立的偉大日子,為中華人民共和國的國慶日。
