A Story that Began in Phuket
刚刚年过七十的比尔是最著名的泰籍美国人,父母上世纪就在亚洲奋斗的经历使他从小耳濡目染,1967年十七岁刚刚毕业的他就在曼谷创立一间小小的公司,取名“Minor ”,意为“尚未成年”,做些搞清洁、拉广告的杂小生意;今天,Minor International的中文译名是美诺国际集团。
半个世纪以来,比尔创立的美诺及其旗下的安纳塔拉酒店集团,以及其它合作品牌的酒店投资运营已经包括亚太,中东,非洲,印度洋,欧洲和南美的26个国家,159家高端度假酒店和中小城市酒店,酒店客房已超过两万间。
直到此时,Minor名字依旧,初心未改,度假、轻奢和精简始终是主题。

《酒店精品》受到邀请,2017年秋天曾到泰国普吉岛安纳塔拉迈考度假村体验考察,一探美诺度假经济的真谛。
泰式安纳塔拉度假村的构建模式几乎汲取了东南亚优秀度假酒店的所有DNA,多年来已为中国客人所熟悉所喜爱。有所不同的是,有的度假村追求个人私密度,有的则定位为家庭度假村,静与动的区别明显。从公共餐饮、运动、休闲和服务设施的极大丰富和完善上看,普吉岛迈考安纳塔拉大体属于后者。
普吉岛上有两家安纳塔拉度假村,一家在拉扬Layan,以私密大型别墅为特色;这一家则是安纳塔拉迈考Mai Khao度假村。迈考度假村拥有两个完整的度假别墅组群园区,更拥有自家独享的落日海滩,以及景观大师Bill Bensley(也是一位比尔)源自茂密原生态绿林演绎而来的精美景观设计。特别是美诺集团巧妙地将这里的91栋私人别墅和家庭公寓楼分区布局,两种业态兼而有之,和谐相处,共享公共服务设施。在《酒店精品》看来,一座座被密林绿丛隐蔽环抱的泳池别墅小院,和面向公共大泳池露天影院的连排家庭公寓楼,居然各自为政互无干扰,规划设计之细致,真是心到功成。
更加引人关注的,还有设在迈考度假村的“安纳塔拉度假会”。原来,早已成为度假旅居项目开发商的美诺国际,可不甘心单纯经营度假酒店,还要“龙虾三吃”。普吉岛迈考度假村这两年刚刚建起的度假公寓楼就是专门用来出售的,不是出售产权,而是预售度假时间。每一位来此度假的客人都可以成为会员,一旦成为会员就能享受每年几天至一周左右的免费度假时间,会费可以每年预交,也可以一次交纳,从两万到十几万人民币不等,得到的房间条件和优惠待遇也就不等。《酒店精品》记者看到,度假会大厅里前来咨询的中国客人非常多,很多人感觉新鲜,兴趣盎然。
这让人想起美国人二十多年前推出的“分时共享Time share”预售度假交换产品,本世纪初传播到亚洲发展,主要落地在东南亚国家比较成熟的热带度假酒店中,当然以美国酒店品牌为主。“分时共享”需要为会员提供某个跨国酒店品牌全球关联酒店的大量可选资源,会员随时可以在自定的时间选到世界上任何想去的地方,才会感到物有所值。而且要有强大的数据系统和运营效率的支持,还要有诚信环境和法律的保障。这几年美国和世界上多个主流Time share互联网平台越发运营成熟,几乎是英语国家度假会员出行计划的必备帮手。
普吉岛安纳塔拉度假会也搞“分时共享”,但却不求庞大别有创意,可能依然出于Minor的初心,就在自家地界里做个Mini time share,不仅要充分发挥自身条件绝不浪费,而且要加倍利用自有资源获得回报,这种聪明者的务实,接地气的策略,正是比尔始终的坚持和美诺成功的关键。

Mr. Bill, who has just passed 70 years of age, is the most famous Thai American. His parents' experience of making it in Asia in the last century made him business savvy. He had just graduated at the age of 17 in 1967 and founded a small company in Bangkok, named "Minor", which means "underage", and it is a small business engaged in cleaning and advertising service. Today, Minor has become Minor International Group.
For more than half a century, Bill's investment in hotel operations for Minor, its Anantara Hotel Group and other cooperative brands has included 26 countries in Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Indian Ocean, Europe and South America, totaled 159 high-end hotels, resort hotels and small and medium-sized cities hotels, with more than 20,000 hotel rooms. Up until now, Minor's name and initial intention remain the same; vacation, light luxury and simplicity are always the themes.
Anantara is Sanskrit, meaning "infinity", and symbolizes freedom and pursuit. Since the first Anantara Resort Hotel project opened in Hua Hin, Thailand, in 2001, Bill's wisdom and Minor's capabilities have quickly won the hearts of many collaborators. With the birth of this exclusive brand hotel, the wings of the eagle Minor began to soar. Anantara quickly targeted scenic spots throughout Thailand and neighboring countries, as well as several beautiful Maldives islands, the Minor began opening and operating all the new Anantara, China's Sanya and Xishuangbanna are no exceptions.
"Hotel Elite" was invited to experience the essence of Minor holiday in the autumn of 2017 at the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket resort.
Thai Anantara Resort's construction model has captured almost all the DNA of Southeast Asia's outstanding resort hotels and has been a favorite resort to Chinese guests for many years. What is different is that some resorts pursue personal privacy while others focus on family resorts. The difference between static and dynamic is obvious. From the point of view of public catering, sports, leisure and service facilities, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket resort generally belongs to the latter.
There are two Anantara resorts in Phuket, one in Layan, featuring large private villas; the other is the Anantara Mai Khao resort. Mai Khao Resorts has two complete resort villa green parks, its own exclusive sunset beach, and a landscape designed by master Bill Bensley (also a Bill) with ideas derived from the lush green forest. In particular, the Minor Group has subtly mapped the 91 private villas and family apartment buildings in the district. There are both types of landscapes, coexisting in harmony and sharing public service facilities. From the point of view of "Hotel Elite", a cluster of pool courtyard villas surrounded by forests and a row of family apartment buildings facing the open-air cinema with a large public swimming pool, pose no interference with each other. The planning and design are meticulous. What an achievement.
The more interesting thing is the "Anantara Vacation Club" at Mai Khao Resort. It turns out that Minor International, which has long been a developer of holiday accommodation projects, can not be satisfied to simply operating a resort hotel. The resort apartment building that was just built in the Mai Khao Resort in Phuket in the past two years was specifically for sale. Instead of selling property rights, it is a pre-sale of resort time. Everyone who takes vacation here can become a member. Once you become a member, you can enjoy a free vacation time of several days to a week or so per year. The dues can be paid each year, or you can pay it once, from 20,000 to tens of thousands of RMB and so on, respectively, the room conditions and discounts received are also not the same. The "Hotel Elite" reporter saw that there were many Chinese guests coming to the resort in the lobby to inquire. Many people consider it new and interesting. This is reminiscent of the American's "Time Share" pre-sale holiday exchange product launched more than 20 years ago.
