西瓜是全球性的重要果品之一,我国西瓜栽培面积及产量均居世界首位。然而我们每年却用大量外汇进口‘新红宝’等西瓜种子,且伪劣种子的进口时有发生。因此选育综合性状及经济效益与‘新红宝’近似,而个别性状优于‘新红宝’的西瓜新品种,乃是当务之急。 一、选育经过 ‘优红宝’(原名‘西农5号’),是西北农业大学西瓜甜瓜研究室根据西瓜遗传规律参照‘新红宝’的表型(phenotype)性状。1984年以自交系ww089×自交系ww102进行杂交,经多年试验选育而成的表型性状与‘新红宝’十分相似的杂种一代西瓜新品种。由于连年试验表现优异,1987年底兰州市西甜瓜研究所要求代为繁殖制种,在制种过程中该
