广州语言文字建设的重点是：推广普通话，推行礼貌用语；提高外语水平，加强文字规范化。为加强语言文字建设，必须采取以下措施：１、提高认识、加强研究、增大投入；２、以学校为基础阵地；３、加强成人教育中语言文字教育份量；４、充分发挥大众传播媒介的作用；５、铸造良好的社会语言文字环境；６、在语言文字的学习运用中，施行激励机制，制订奖罚制度。
