2006年第4期《当代作家评论》刊发《海外中国现代文学研究的历史、现状与未来》,那是王德威为上海三联书店“海外中国现代文学译丛”撰写的总序.文章写得很好,大开大合,且兼收并蓄,保持作者一贯平和温润的风格.此文对于我们了解欧美汉学(中国研究)的发展脉络及现状非常有用,只是视野不包括日本与韩国,偶尔涉及俄苏及东欧,也是那些用英文发表的.其中提及自己著作,只有以下两处:“对写实现实主义的再批判(Marston Anderson,王德威)”“晚清文学现代性的省思(王德威,Theodore Huters)”.
