两轮摩托车是安全系数较小的交通工具和运动器械。几年来在运动场上和交通道路上发生了不少的死亡事故,虽然原因是多方面的,但其中有相当部分是由于不戴头盔、不正确佩戴头盔和戴劣质头盔造成的。 北京摩托车队从1958年到1980年死在运动场上的就有两女两男4名运动员。其中两名女运动员之死是因为当时还没有头盔;而两名男运动员之死是因为没有戴好头盔。 1959年,北京摩托运动队在第一届全运会赛前训练时,运动队整队从长辛店出发去训练场,在途经一个三叉路口时,一辆货车因雨天刹车不灵,将一名18岁的女运动员撞在一棵树上,当时头部出血,去301医院
