Yu Haiyan， former vice governor of northwest China’s Gansu Province， is under investigation on suspicion of accepting bribes， the Supreme People’s Procuratorate （SPP） announced.
Yu， a former member of the standing committee of the Communist Party of China Gansu provincial committee， has been placed under “coercive measures，” which may include summons by force， bail， residential surveillance， detention or arrest.
Investigation into his case is currently under way， according to the SPP.
Yu was found to “completely lack political beliefs，” as well as to have severely violated the Party’s code of conduct and rules and to have long abused his power to seek huge profits for himself and others， according to a statement from the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection （CCDI）.
The CCDI said that not only had Chen refused to cooperate in the Party’s investigation into his case， he had also traded power for sex and used public funds for his own recreational activities.
The CPC Central Committee has approved his expulsion from the Party.
His illegal gains will be confiscated and the case will be transferred to judicial organs for investigation into his suspected crimes， the CCDI statement said.
