On June 6， Chen Hongping ，the former secretary of municipal party committee of Jieyang， Guangdong was brought to court for bribery and abuse of power.
Chen Hongping was sentenced to death for taking bribes more than 139 million yuan， suspended for two years， deprivation of political rights for life.
According to Foshan city intermediate court trial， Chen Hongping from 2004 to 2004， using as acting mayor of Jieyang city， the mayor， Jiey- ang municipal party committee secretary of the advantage of his office， for the benefit of others， accepting others’ property is equivalent to about 140 million yuan.
The court held that Chen Hongping custody after truthfully confesses his crime， active account bribery before being prosecuted， inform on crime after verified， others have a meritorious service， expressed remorse， most money stolen goods has been recovered， so the light punishment.
