肃州区地处河西走廊中段,是酒泉市政府所在地,总面积3349平方公里,辖7镇8乡、20个城市社区,总人口45万人,居住着汉、回、裕固等15个民族,是古丝绸之路上重要的历史文化名城。自西汉置郡以来,已有2100多年的发展历史,甘肃之“肃”就得名于肃州。肃州区自然资源富集,光热水土资源丰富,盛产190多种优质农产品,是全国最大的对外制种基地和洋葱生产集散中心,还是我省最大的奶牛养殖基地和畜禽主产区之一。周边与闻名世界的敦煌莫高窟、中国最早的石油基地玉门油田、驰名中外的中国西部航天城酒泉卫星发射中心、西北最大的钢铁基地酒泉钢铁公司鼎足相邻,是连接新疆、内蒙古、青海、宁夏等省区的通衢重镇。
Located in the middle of the Hexi Corridor, the Suzhou District is the seat of the Jiuquan City Government with a total area of 3,349 square kilometers. It has 7 towns, 8 townships, 20 urban communities, a total population of 450,000 and 15 ethnic groups including Han, Hui and Yugur. Ancient Silk Road is an important historical and cultural city. Since the establishment of the Western Han Dynasty, there have been more than 2,100 years of development history. The “Su” of Gansu has its name in Suzhou. Suzhou area is rich in natural resources, rich in light, hot water and soil resources, rich in 190 kinds of high quality agricultural products, is the country’s largest foreign seed production base and onion production distribution center, or the province’s largest dairy farming base and the main producing areas of livestock and poultry one. Around the world with the world famous Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, China’s first oil base Yumen Oilfield, well-known Chinese and Western China West Space City Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company, the largest steel base in the Northwest Dingzu adjacent, is connected to Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai , Ningxia and other provinces of the thoroughfare town.
