紫草又名爱国草、友谊草等,学名Symphytum peregrinurn(Ledeb),属于紫草科聚合草属,是多年生饲料作物。紫草产量高,质量好,在国外被誉为养猪和养禽最好的青饲料之一。1973年由朝鲜民主主义人民共和国及日本引入我国黑龙江、吉林、北京等地试种。1975年引入我省,在钟祥、郧县、当阳等县及省畜牧特产所、华中农学院试种繁殖。一年多以来,表现很好。在今年全省饲料工作会议上,受到与会代表极大重视,纷纷要求大力推广。现简介如后,供参考。
