The United States is a highly industrialized country. A wide variety of chemicals and drugs fill the market. Regardless of family, workplace or school, people have a high chance of coming into contact with poisonous and harmful products. Poisoning incidents that are intentionally or unintentionally caused are also common. In 1952, a survey by the American Academy of Pediatrics led members to believe that a poison control center (poisoncontrolcenter) should be established.
