When Zhang Qian’s pack-horse and crutch waged a journey of civilization and trade for the Han people, the ancestors learned that there were countless other nations to the west of China’s map. When our silk satin and lacquer wares really fell into the hands of the Western people, China was no longer a mysterious legend from them to the Far East. Since the Han dynasty, cultural relics drifting overseas through various channels have become ambassadors representing the ancient civilizations of oriental civilization, enabling Westerners to understand our 5,000-year history and touch our 5,000 years of culture. Today, with the prosperity of our nation, we should look after those ancestors who have sweat-molded civilization and let them hear the call of our motherland from some corner of the earth. Let us ask them all the best! And the catalog of Chinese art collections published by the Museum of Arts and Crafts in 2011 as the basic material (sponsored by two German Chinese), introducing the collection history of this museum and the existing status of Chinese relics in European countries for domestic readers to understand enjoy. This publication will open the column of “overseas cultural relics” and lead the readers to understand the cultural relics and extant status overseas, so stay tuned
