2006年6月底,北京大学生军乐团赴欧洲参加奥地利第35界国际青年音乐节。奥地利维也纳国际青年音乐节是由维也纳市政府和国际会议中心联合举办的世界著名音乐节,迄今已有30多年的历史。其宗旨是为了继承维也纳悠久的音乐精神,促进世界各国音乐交流,为世界优秀青年音乐家提供一个展现自我的国际舞台。每年都会有许多世界各地才华洋溢的青年音乐家聚集到维也纳,在蓝色多瑙河畔一显身手。音乐节比赛的评委会由世界知名的音乐专家组成,他们的专业意见是音乐界的权威之声。他们之中有评委会主席雷纳·毕斯萧博士,前维也纳音乐学院主任,维也纳男童合唱团指挥,享有世界声誉的格拉德·特拉克教授；奥地利军乐团前指挥安顿·索非纳教授等。
By the end of June 2006, the Peking University Students Military Ensemble went to Europe for the 35th International Youth Music Festival in Austria. The Vienna International Youth Music Festival in Vienna is a world renowned music festival co-organized by the Vienna City Hall and the International Convention Center. It has a history of over 30 years. Its purpose is to inherit the long-held spirit of music in Vienna, promote the exchange of music in all countries in the world and provide world outstanding young musicians with an international stage to show themselves. Every year many talented young musicians from all over the world gather in Vienna to find their way to the Blue Danube. The jury of the Festival is comprised of world-renowned music experts whose professional opinion is the authority of the music industry. Among them were Dr. Reina Bischoff, chairman of the jury, director of the former Vienna Conservatory of Music, conductor of the Vienna Boy’s Choir and world-renowned professor Glad Tutt; former head of the Austrian military band, Professor Anton Sofner Wait.
