Ten years of reform and opening up, China’s residential construction has made world-renowned achievements. According to the information provided by the Ministry of Construction, from 1979 to 1995, the national housing investment reached 1.05 trillion yuan, and 2.55 billion square meters of urban residential buildings were completed. The per capita living space of urban residents increased from 3.6 square meters to 7.9 square meters. In spite of this, there is still a big gap between housing supply and demand: about 4 million of the cities in the country
