A month ago, I traveled to Tula Province, Russia, in a manor house called El Nerna, Nerina, overlooking the site of Leo Tolstoy, the country’s greatest writer. This chic former residence is set amid the greenery amidst bright woodlands. On September 9, 1828, Töpö was born here and died on November 7, 1910. Green trees, clear water, flowers, accompanied by Tolstoy here more than 60 years. Here he created the immortal masterpieces of “War and Peace,” “Anna Karenina,” and “Resurrection.” He was hailed by Lenin as a “mirror of the Russian revolution.” It is one of the treasures of human cultural heritage. At the beginning of last century, Gulji, a great literary critic, highly praised him: “The whole world is looking at him from the entire earth: from China, from India, from the United States jujube to all living places, a line of living trembling stretches toward him ... ... ”Walking on the green road leading to the former residence of Toon, I saw the blond foreigners coming and worshiped, my heart full of infinite devotion.
