今年上海艺博会上展出了陆春涛的新作——《荷塘系列》,作品率意的构图、灵动的线条、大胆的用色带给观者梦幻般的视觉感受,画家一改笔下荷花的清高孤傲之气,取而代之的是以满塘生活的热情与激情。从古至今,中国文人墨客以“荷”为创作题材的枚不胜举,陆春涛另辟蹊径,用黑底突出主体的宁静厚重之感,神韵盎然。荷花情态万千,线条与色彩交织的韵律之感,似诗歌,如音乐。疾走的笔触不仅为画面增添光影流转之感,更呈现出生命的绚烂和庄美。相较于20世纪80年代以来在观念、手法和材料带有明显西方痕迹的观念水墨而言,陆春涛立足本土,试图在自己的创作中探寻传统水墨在当代语境下的东方性。自2003年起、他的作品风格由早期的平和逐渐转向奔放,将自己内心对东方水墨的内涵和美的解读倾泻到画面中——由《瓶花系列》开始尝试用色彩释放活力,接着《荒谷系列》更加大胆地用线和留白,至《江边系列》则潜心于光与影的实践,此次的《荷塘系列》在前几个系列的基础之上逐渐挣脱传统中国画的藩篱,达到一种超脱笔墨的“写意”状态。不仅如此,艺术家不断挑战自己,根据创作选择新的媒介,以拓展水墨的表现领域。这些颇具革命性的创作除了兼备造型和理想,更是艺术家本人坚持用内心的感情和语言去思索、感悟和寻求艺术真谛的体现。
