2008年第6期的《今日中国》中文版本来已经做了封面故事《生活在无声世界的孩子们》,内容是反映聋儿学习教育和亲子关系的。每一个生命的逝去都是我们共同的哀伤。38个版面,以《生命重于一切》为题的封面故事在几天之内出现在《今日中国》中文版第6期上。在中国9000多种杂志中,《今日中国》是唯一的多文种综合性月刊,以英、法、西、阿、中等5种文字出版,发行到世界150多个国家和地区。每月15日是《今日中国》英文版、法文版印刷完成的日子,但汶川地震发生后,全社立即行动起来,决定暂停已经印刷完毕的英法两个文版对外发送工作,临时做24页的增刊。那几天,《今日中国》杂志社楼上的不少房间总是通宵亮着灯,几乎全社一半人在加班,其余的人员24小时待命。因为涉及多语种的翻译,前方记者发回来的中文稿在送审的同时,便进入翻译。就这样,法文版增刊在只有4位翻译人员(包括两位外国专家)的情况下和英文版增刊同时完成。社长宫喜祥在印厂的印刷机前守候了一整夜。
The Chinese edition of “Today’s China” in June 2008 has already made a cover story, “Children Living in a Silent World,” reflecting the learning and education and parent-child relationship of deaf children. The passing of every life is our common sorrow. The 38-page cover story titled “Life is Over Everything” appeared in the sixth issue of China Today in a matter of days. Among the 9,000 magazines in China, Today’s China is the only comprehensive multi-language monthly publication published in five languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, and distributed to more than 150 countries and regions in the world. On the 15th of each month, the printing of “Today’s China” in English and French was completed. However, immediately after the Wenchuan earthquake, the whole society took immediate action and decided to suspend the already printed English-French version of the work to be sent out to the outside world and temporarily make a 24-page Supplement. A few days later, many of the upstairs “China Today” magazine rooms were lit with lights overnight. Almost half of the whole community was working overtime and the rest were on call 24 hours a day. Because of the multi-lingual translation involved, the Chinese version sent back by the correspondents in front of the court sent the transcripts at the same time as the submission of the transcripts. In this way, the French version of the supplement completes the English supplement with only four translators (including two foreign experts).
