It has been demonstrated that enzyme immunoassay (EIA) is an effective method for the analysis of antigens. The EIA can be categorized according to the product formed and the EIA producing the soluble product can be readily quantified with a spectrophotometer or a fluorometer. EIA, which forms insoluble products at the enzyme-antibody-antigen complex, may easily assess antigen distribution but is the most elaborate in this way.
